So, Spiritual Emphasis Week has ended. One thing I learned is that if a verse jumps out to you or sticks in your head, it's God talking to you! Listen for what He is saying!
Thought- James 3:3,5 "When we put a bit in the mouth of a horse, we can turn the whole animal...Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark."
James 3:9 "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God's likeness."
Challenge- Your tongue controls you. Be careful what you say, as you could worship God and be rude to someone.
Today's thought- Do not merely listen to the Word....do what it says.
Challenge Forever- read a chapter, focus on a verse that jumps out at you. Live it out!
For our Spiritual Emphasis Week, we're doing Jim Class, which is a Bible study on the book of James.
I'm hoping and listening for God's voice through this...maybe I'll learn something new!
Verse that Stuck Out
Sometimes a verse just jumps out at you. Today it was James 1:22-25.
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do."
It made me think of how I read the Bible. I read a chapter of Psalms, then forget about it.
